Busy tearing down the BMW to get it ready for Rally Colorado on September 19th and 20th. Presently the new roll cage has been installed and painted, next up is the suspension and drive-train enhancements which include a new rear diff. Specs and photos will be posted soon.
Check out Rally-America.com for more information on Rally Colorado.
The BMW has been dropped off at Salta Motorsports to be outfitted with a new cage, seats, harnesses and diff. With some luck, we'll have a new suspension by the first Hill Climb in may. It sounds like the first race of the Colorado Rally Cup will be April 4th. The hope is to have the car ready and rolling by then.
Taking the place of the BMW while not in the garage is the '62 Ford Falcon. It's being aggressively torn down. Over the next two months the plan is to upgrade ... more
First race of the season and its been good. Kurt Terry had obligations to his work that wouldn't allow him to co-drive. Considering the way we ended the only race last year he was certainly bummed.
Friday we started slow and kept dropping time on every run. With a new co-driver, whose also new to co-driving itself, we expected nothing more than to finish the weekend. That we did, also cutting our time down, nearly 30 seconds from our first run on Saturday. Josh found his rhythm ... more
It has been an interesting year so far. We haven't made it to too many races, as its mainly been a year for finding the bugs. We've developed quite the list of items that need to be upgraded and changed since we first got the BMW.
Our latest race was in Victor, Colorado on July 22nd and 23rd. We had a successful practice day and were able to trim down on our time throughout the day. On race day we dropped a little more time on our first run and were excited to see what ... more
Well BigRed had a good life, what can I say?!
Its not really been a lack of news since I last updated, its simply a lot of news that hasn't been posted. Since I have took on the roll of co-driver for 40/40 Racing I wasn't driving in this years Colorado COG Rally. Big Red was instead loned to Mitch, from Checkpoint Racing, because the Focus he was planning to race tangled with the front of a trailer and lost. With only 18 hours before we were supposed to head to Steamboat ... more
Well the summer is nearly gone and Big Red has had quite the humble summer. Since the beginnings of Checkpoint Racing it has left little room for actually racing. There is the whole engine thing as well. After looking at a few different options I finally decided to pickup a friends B16A. So its been a bit of a wait for the engine itself, in the meantime its been all about managing and promoting a race shop.
Grassroots Motorsports magazine is sponsoring the next Colorado ... more
On the lighter side of things; in this months SportsCar, the official magazine of the SCCA, Big Reg made it on page 13 next to mention of the RallySprints taking place in Colorado.
Well, we can at least say we tried and have the pictures to show it! After running it down to the line getting a different transmission, new clutch, and new axels before the Temple Canyon Hill Climb in Canon City, CO on our second trial run up the hill the engine was done for. About a mile from ... more
The New Year is here and Big Red Racing is ready more than ever. With the addition of our service truck it will be easier for us to get to the Rallys and Hill Climbs. The 2005 Schedule has been posted with currently 5 events, all within Colorado. If things go well we might add another rally, though we'll have to wait and see.
We have a new co-driver for this season and it sounds like he'll be sticking around for at least the season if not longer. We should have his information ... more
